Projective story cards were used as one of the earliest forms of assessment to provide therapists with insight into a client's unconscious conflicts, needs, and desires. This set of cards represents an extension of the traditional use of the cards to include a variety of cognitive and behavioral activities. They can be used to elicit projective stories from children and give the caregiver insight into the etiology of the child's problems, the functionality of the child's behavior, the degree of social awareness of the child, and how the problem affects the child's self-concept.
