Detective Harriet Blue is a very good cop . . . gone very bad. In the space of a week, she has committed theft and fraud, resisted arrest, assaulted a police officer, and is considered a dangerous fugitive from the law. It's all because of one man, Regan Banks. He viciously killed the only person in the world who matters to Harriet-and he plans to kill her next. As she recklessly speeds toward the dark side-and finally crosses it-Harriet won't stop until Regan pays for the many lives he has taken.

A truly fabulous read! It never stops-good luck trying to put it down at any time! This is one of these books that you could carry with you while doing groceries because you absolutely must find out what happens next. Can't wait for the next one that is to follow to come out.....

This book compelled me to write my first comment.
I stopped reading Patterson when he started having co-authors and churning out more than 4 a year. I re-started several years ago with Private and NYPD which I enjoy.

Liar Liar was 100% predictable until I gave up in disgust 2/3rds thru.
LMAO when I saw the comment on the back cover: praise for "FLAIR FOR FEMALE POV and characters." Duh: co-author Candice Fox wrote the book.

And 100% unbelievable. That's why I cannot read sci-fi, and this is even more unbelievable.

As 'Liar, Liar' gives resolution to the first two books in the 'Harriet Blue' series, you should probably read them first.

I find 'Liar, Liar' to be yet another book that could have been good, but isn't. The psychological warfare could have been interesting but it isn't: it's only banal and repetitive. The sub-characters are overworked stereotypes and the resolution to finding the bad guy is pretty unrealistic.

I can't imagine where Detective Harriet Blue goes from here (other than where the ending seems to actually be sending her). I can see no way to resurrect and/or redeem her character that would put her back where she was before beginning this escapade and without that why would we read a DETECTIVE Harriet Blue novel?

2 stars, very low C- with a recommendation that you consider the value of your time before picking up 'Liar, Liar' and that Patterson considers his reputation before releasing yet another unworthy novel. He is trading on his far too famous name for really awful books lately.

I think this is the 3rd book in James Patterson & Candice Fox's series starring Australian detective Harriett Blue. LIAR LIAR is a very well-developed story that really advances the character development of Blue. That said, it is also a hard read as she goes rogue to capture a brutal, psycho killer - the things the killer does to get her attention are graphic. There are also some interesting twists that come with a senior police department official taking over the investigation of the killer and who has it out for Blue. Its 's the kind of senior officialdom types primarily interested in optics, publicity and career advancement than being mission-focused that we see in our current society. The book ends in a strange note which was a bit unsettling and unsatisfying, but which certainly forecasts another book in the series. Looking forward to seeing where they take this character next. Somewhere, I hope.

An action-packed, fast-paced thriller typical of James Patterson.
