While Richard Nixon's culpability for Watergate has long been established-most recently by PBS in 2003-what's truly remarkable that after almost forty years, conventional accounts of the scandal still don't address Nixon's motive. Why was President Nixon willing to risk his reelection with so many repeated burglaries at the Watergate-and other Washington offices-in just a few weeks? What motivated Nixon to jeopardize his presidency by ordering the wide range of criminal operations that resulted in Watergate? What was Nixon so desperate to get at the Watergate, and how does it explain the deeper context surrounding his crimes? For the first time, the groundbreaking investigative research in Watergate: The Hidden History provides documented answers to all of those questions. It adds crucial missing pieces to the Watergate story-information that President Nixon wanted, but couldn't get, and that wasn't available to the Senate Watergate Committee or to Woodward and Bernstein. This new information not only reveals remarkable insights into Nixon's motivation for Watergate, but also answers the two most important remaining questions: What were the Watergate burglars after? And why was Nixon willing to risk his Presidency to get it? Watergate: The Hidden History reexamines the historical record, including new material only available in recent years. This includes thousands of recently declassified CIA and FBI files, newly released Nixon tapes, and exclusive interviews with those involved in the events surrounding Watergate-ranging from former Nixon officials to key aides for John and Robert Kennedy. This book also builds on decades of investigations by noted journalists and historians, as well as long-overlooked investigative articles from publications like Time magazine, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times.

Waldron is a fraud and a farce!
Throughout this 808 page monstrosity of befuddlement [including the substandard index] Waldron contradicts himself endlessly, while citing supposition and hearsay as fact, and ignoring all those crucial and verifiable facts! Unbelievable ANYONE would be accepting of this pure crud?!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXAMPLE: A note on the bottom of p. 294 is a complete falsehood, claiming,
// The identities of the actual tramps were later released by the Dallas Police. \\
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sheer lies and typical of his bilge throughout. The Dallas County Sheriffs Identification Divison chief, James D. Kitching, repeatedly stated in the 1960s that no one had ever been booked or arrested who matched the description of those so-called hobos. I believe he even signed a deposition later to that fact. Indeed, years later a Fake Newsy team in Texas would claim they uncovered the so-called police records and then would later interview several of the three - - problem is, they were the only so-called police records missing the mandatory photos and fingerprints [I'll dig up the piece where retired DPD police point this out, it's online, then post it here] and photos of these younger hobos are nothing like the original photo of the so-called three tramps [one was an actual hobo, but the shorter dark-haired fellow with the upturned collar was Belgian criminal and CIA contract killer, Moses Maschkivitzan, while the taller blond fellow was Lazlo the Hungarian, a French Foreign Legion deserter and member of the fascist outfit, the OAS]. Which is why so much disinformation exists concerning that photo.
Waldron does touch upon the occasional fact, but later bewilders the attentive reader when he contradicts himself and casts suspicion on said fact?!
I would place him in the same fraud category as Posner and Bugliosi.
And Waldron completely and fictiously spews forth nonsense on Mertz as an assassin - - but this lie has no source to it, it was tracked back to two News Day reporters without anything to back up their story - - News Day was then owned and published by Fred Guggenheim of the incredibly wealthy Guggenheim family, who were half-owners of the Belgian Congo Company, and owed the CIA a favor for their help in overthrowing the democratically elected Patrice Lumumba. Nobody in the French intelligenc services ever heard of this Mertz, he cannot be found in French court records [supposed long-time dope dealer and smuggler] and nobody in the French office of the American BNDD, or Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, the forerunner of the DEA, ever heard of him!
[A real researcher, a real reporter, a real investigator, would have found out the ship's capain of the chartered boat in Islamorada, Fl. {Larry Laborde, CIA asset who would later ferry in one of the assassins, Moses Maschkivitzan. Laborde was also tight with Gerry Hemming} - - in other words, accumulate as much info as possible!]
