The Poe Dameron story really dragged, but other than that this book was great!

A good light read for anyone looking to learn more about TFA's main characters.

Very interesting. It gave me a new perspective on both Finn and Poe, but I didn't think Rey's story got good closure at ALL! I liked how her ingenuity and resourcefulness were showcased, but the ending REALLY didn't fit. The insight into Finn's problems and thoughts made him a lot more relatable.

Awesome book, I really loved it. All of the stories were really fun to read, and know I feel like know the characters better. It was too short for my type but I still enjoyed it very much.

I really enjoyed most of this book, especially Finn's perspective, as it included some bits of Phasma's perspective. Rey's was rather climactic, but ending on a note that leaves you going, "Seriously? what? IS THAT REALLY HOW IT ENDS?"
Poe wasn't quite as good as Finn's, but ended on a happy note.

It's an interesting snippet into the minds of the main characters. I enjoyed the plotline for each of them... made me want to keep reading.

After you see TFA, pick up this handy collection of three short stories. Anyone who has questioned Rey's skills as a pilot or her abilities to repair and rebuild items will very much appreciate the back story.

I disagree with mxkramer in that I found Finn's and Poe's stories to be the most interesting and engaging and Rey's to be the most lacking. Finn's story definitely takes the cake as it details life as a First Order storm trooper and fills in some invaluable character development for him. As I said before, Rey's story sort of drags and (as Radharc mentioned below) we know how it ends beforehand, so it wasn't as outstanding. However, it was nice to see her mental drive and resourcefulness as a scavenger/"pilot" showcased. I also enjoyed Poe's story, as his family ties in with the fall of the Empire 30+ years before the Force Awakens, and Poe gets more time to shine here than what he was allotted in the actual film.
Altogether, a very good addition to the Star Wars universe, especially in regards to the newest movie.

Interesting entry in the new "canon" of Star Wars books, this title, geared towards a young audience, gives us a glimpse into the lives of the "new" trio of protagonists introduced in the film, "The Force Awakens". Each story (titled only by the character's name) takes place more or less right before we see the characters in Episode VII. Finn's story doesn't mention his previosu background in sanitation (as he mentions in the film - an obvious nod to a scene in the film "Clerks") but rather paints him as an exemplary stormtrooper, albeit, one with a conscience. Rey's tale begins a little over a year before we are introduced to her in the film, and her story about finding a premium piece of salvage has a not-too-surprising end. Poe's tale has a great deal of (surprise) space combat action - and ends right where the film begins. The book is written for a juvenile audience, but series fans, like myself, will find the read to be rather enjoyable.
