I found this book to be a shortened and Harlequin-ized version of the original P&P. Being very favorably impressed by much of the dialogue which has been cleverly re-imagined with much wit, it was a satisfying read. As the comedy aspect seemed somewhat lacking, I felt it to be more a romantic novel rather than a romantic comedy.

Well yes, it is predictable. It is a retelling of Pride and Prejudice with a different story line. But it has to have the same basic ending, that's what you read it for.

I liked it.

Having read another version of Pride and Prejudice by the same author, I found this tiresome. The idea of re-jigging the plot of the same classic novel is clever but the characters come to feel shallow on their platform of manners and stilted social mores. Elizabeth and Darcy continually mis-understand one another's intentions and I could hardly finish the book it all became so predictable. Great for younger readers who would appreciate an easy introduction into the world of Jane Austen but mature readers beware of being hackneyed to death.

This book was another great variation of Pride and Prejudice full of humour and interesting character interpretations. I really liked the way Mary, Kitty, and Georgiana were written and the relationship that forms between them.
