A memoir of Glenn Dixon, an English teacher who takes one summer and goes to Verona, Italy to discover the place where Romeo and Juliet were born and where Shakespeare got the idea for the story of Romeo and Juliet. During Glenn's summer there, he answers letters which have been posted by people from all over the world = from his heart to them. He discovers himself along the way and his brokenness when it comes to love; its' elusiveness and finds his true love. For me, it renewed a memory of an English high school teacher much the same as Glenn who taught me the love of Shakespeare and English grammar. He like Glenn Dixon made an impact on me which has lasted my whole life. A unique book which is light and good reading and makes one want to travel to Italy, and Verona-the city of love.

An unusual type of memoir. Shakespeare was a big mystery to me in high school, I think Glenn Dixon could have brought it to life for me. Very enjoyable reading.

Warm and deeply personal; I loved this memoir. Now I'd like to travel to Verona too! And re-read Romeo and Juliet!

This is part love story, part travelogue. It reads like fiction and I could not put it down. I especially loved learning about Romeo and Juliet as I did not study it in high school. Honestly, I wish I had had a teacher like Glenn back then as I might have actually enjoyed English class and Shakespeare!

This memoir had an easy flowing narrative and was a pleasure to read.

An enjoyable read with three concurrent stories: the author's love life travails, the work of the Secretaries to Juliet in Verona, and his experiences teaching Romeo and Juliet to high school students. A very engaging read!

Update: Eat, Pray, Love from a male perspective. Added bonus is the tie in to Romeo and Juliet.

I can not wait to read this book!
WPL just hosted the author for a talk and after hearing him speak I am even more intrigued.
Sounds like a fascinating story.
