This doesn't have the mind-boggling beautiful and outstanding songs of some of Dar William's past albums, but the lyrics are clever and the tunes lovely. I particularly liked "It's All Right" and "Go to the Woods" (the latter has Suzanne Vega on back-up vocals). I was also taken with "Buzzer", a song about that infamous Milgram psychological experiment at Yale in 1961 that asked volunteers to shock subjects who gave incorrect answers. Unknown to the volunteers, the subjects weren't really hurt, but very few volunteers refused to press the buzzer. The album also features songs by other songwriters, including "Troubled Times" which is written by the guys in Fountains of Wayne (of "Stacey's Mom" fame); it's a pleasant song that sounds like it should be playing under the credits at the end of a chick-flick.
All in all, a nice listen, but I won't be purchasing the CD.
