Fourteen years passed between this release and AiC's previous full length studio album affectionately known as 'Three Legged Dog'. Many asked - including myself - 'what is the point in a new album without Layne Staley?' This album is excellent, and will be a pleasant surprise to anyone that may have discounted the possibility. The front man replacement is William DuVall who brings plenty of tormented eeriness to the recordings without being a Staley clone. He harmonizes beautifully with Jerry Cantrell and the AiC sound is largely intact. The material is strong and this album fits right in with the discography. Highly recommended to all.
Pretty good. Jerry Cantrell would be proud...
