Interesting and useful information here. It's not a book I'd buy and re-read, like some of my food reference books, but I'm grateful to my library for carrying it. Recommended to people who like to shop smart, cook at home, and reduce waste in the kitchen.

This book is really about not letting fresh foods go to waste. I had expected more ideas about how to use small amounts of ingredients left over from making another dish. Her suggestion for using leftover cream is followed by a recipe requiring two cups! I want to know what to do with a half can of soup or a jar of applesauce. Yes, I know I can substitute the latter for oil in baking, but I don’t bake that often and my family wastes a lot of this.
She has useful tips if you are a novice in the kitchen, but I did not come away with a lot of ideas I would use
