As a girl, Genevieve Martin spent the happiest summer of her life in Paris, learning the delicate art of locksmithing at her uncle's side. But since then, living back in the States, she has become more private, more subdued. She has been an observer of life rather than an active participant, holding herself back from those around her, including her soon-to-be-ex-husband.

A great way to travel to Paris without getting on a plane! Loved the historical aspect of it.

Silly and predictable.

This is a charming book about an American moving to Paris to take over her uncle's locksmith business. Genevieve moves to the Village Saint Paul and immediately becomes a part of the community, almost unwillingly. The book takes place across three time periods; Genevieve's move to Paris after her divorce, Genevieve's visit to Paris as a fourteen year old after her mother's death, and her mother's journey to France in the 1980's. The vivid cast of characters in Village Saint Paul are the best part of the book.

Excellent story! What a girl, that Geneviève! Original too - never have I read a story about a woman locksmith and the catacombs, but the imagery about a key to the heart is strong throughout. Highly recommend.
