One of the best of the series, with deeply human focus on the central relationships, and on "marriages in which love and fidelity and truth have maintained their importance." This volume is in a sense the end of a series, with the remaining five (of twelve) books moving into a new generation of Poldarks.
"Being in love is the difference between being alive and not being alive."
