Ms. Clam has lost her pearl. Being a good friend, Mr. Fish decides to locate the pearl for her. But the deeper in the ocean he goes, the more worried about the dark he becomes. He begins to feel glum again. But a friendly voice urges him on until he comes to the darkest part of the ocean. Miss Shimmer joins him and shows him how two can be braver than one. All the sea friends rejoice over Mr. Fish's success.

The illustrations are very colorful, finely detailed and fun to look at. I love Hanna's pictures in the Pout Pout fish series. He puts so much in the background that parallels what is going on in the story and also shows what life is like under the ocean. I could read this book several times just to see more of the pictures.

I loved this book! Once again, the author shows how actions speak louder than words. Mr. Fish doesn't just feel sorry for his friend, he takes a difficult journey to get her most prized possession back. And when that journey becomes difficult, Miss Shimmer steps in to help. This is a wonderful book about friendship and persevering through difficulties (which in this case was swimming down to the darkest part of the ocean). This book made me laugh and smile too. I highly recommend for any age group.

fun to read. I had the children say one of the sentences that repeated with me.

My 2 year old really likes this one. We've read it a ton of times, and enjoy it more than the original pout pout book.

Our young readers really liked the upside down fish! Definitely a must read.
