A sad, yet pretty story about finding courage, compassion, and connection in times of hardship. Vlauntin beautifully interweaves these memorable characters whose lives reflect the unfortunate reality of many Americans today. The author has been compared to Steinbeck and Raymond Carver. When he isn't busy penning novels that take place in the Pacific Northwest, Vlauntin rocks out as lead singer and guitar player for the band Richmond Fontaine. This quick read has something for everyone. Feel Free to dive in

so much compassion in this book... 'hard-luck' tales with hope. if you like character-based writing, give Vlautin a try...
