A gripping novel. However, the narrative format is so very similar to the author's book " Karolina's Twins" which I had read and enjoyed. I think if this is the only plot line the author is presenting, I wouldn't persue more books by the author.

Great read. I got into the characters and enjoyed the historical journey. I've read many WWII historical novels and this one is on top of my favorite lists.

This story alternates between the current day and a time span around the second World War. My only complaint was a bit of the dialogue in the the current day story felt weak. This was a very limited problem and otherwise the writing felt fine to me. It was a captivating story and offered an involved plot with lots of character engagement. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to be immersed in a good family drama type story.

I loved this book. It was very well written with lots of twists & turns. I found it kept me on the edge of my seat. This was the first time reading one of Ronald Balson's books & I just loved it. Found it very interesting from a historical point of view as well. I also found it to be a rather refreshing & new approach to WWII stories. I would recommend it to those who enjoy reading historical fiction books.

Predictable and some painfully bad dialogue; one character actually says, "the suspense is killing me". If you want a well-written, suspenseful is-he-or-isn't-he Nazi war criminal thriller, see Leon Uris's great "QB VII".

Ben's story about being a Holocaust survivor is very powerful. His emotions from bravery to desperation are felt every time he shares a piece with Catherine.

Catherine's own story is just as compelling as she learns life is more than showing up to work to collect a paycheck. She learns from Ben how living and life should never be without purpose.

I listened to the download audio book narrated by the excellent Fred Berman.
