Funny if not a bit hard to swallow. Just go along for the ride!

Many good one-liner jokes, especially at the end, but the story becomes tedious. The story replaces Forest Gump with a 100 year old Swede.

So funny! Great book!

Quirky characters and upbeat social satire combine to deliver a saga reminiscent of Forrest Gump or The World According to Garp.

I enjoyed this light-hearted book even though I usually dislike alternating chapters with flashbacks to the character's past. Most likely, just as the description of the character's life becomes interesting, I have to shift to the description of another time period and series of events in the character's life. However, in this book the flashbacks - each with a date so that the reader knows what time period is being represented - add pizzazz to the narrative because of the adventure that then is described. The main character - the 100 year old man - is connected to or immersed by chance in most of the major events of the 20th Century in Europe and Asia. Each adventure contains an aspect of world history. The way the 100 year old man is connected to that event gives the reader something to chuckle about. Usually that connection has to do with the character's skill with explosives. There were some memorable conclusions the character makes too. For example, his observation about wars - why kill people when they will all eventually die anyway. Also, his remark about leaders of nations - "right was not necessarily right, but rather what the person in charge said was right". By the end of the book, the 100 year old man, his mates, and the police are all reconciled. The mystery of the corpses is solved; everyone shares in the contents of the suitcase thus making friends of enemies and allowing the 100 year old man to again have further adventures. This book is similar in vein to the "Little Old Lady" series also written by a Swede.

The further adventures of a 100 year old man. He's had a lifetime of escaping police and meeting famous men. Totally improbable but wonderful just the same.

This is a fairly witty and fun read. I especially enjoyed the satirical descriptions of world leaders and key historical events.

Love this book so much! If you at all a history buff, you will love the way that the author weaves the main character in and out of so many moments in world history. It's a super fun read for those with a sense of humor and a basic knowledge of world history.

A fun yarn. Reminded me a bit of Candide.

Never try to outdrink a Swede, unless you happen to be a Finn or at least a Russian.
