I recently read the book: If I Stay, by Gayle Forman. This book was different and exciting. It’s an amazingly written book about love, family and the different chives we all make in life. Mia has had lots of choices to make throughout her life but when something tragic happens she’s left with one choice to make. This book was beautifully written, from the aspect of Mia. There were lots of moments in the book where you're left thinking ‘if I was in the same situation as Mia, what would I do?’ There were lots of heartbreaking moments throughout the book and the author wrote those parts amazingly. I truly felt the emotions Mia and her family were going through. I admit I was sad when the author didn’t tell us Mia’s decision in this book but the story continues in ‘Where She Went.’ I’d recommended this book to everyone because it truly is life-changing. I rate this book a 5/5. @peppapig of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

Like many books, the beginning was intriguing, but it soon lost force (or at least my interest) as it progressed. It does drag a bit, so the initial intrigue faded. It wasn’t a bad book. It does have some pretty neat life lessons on our inner connection with others.

The book revolves around Mia Hall, a seventeen-year-old girl who dreams of getting into Juilliard. One day her normal life is turned upside down when she and her family are involved in a car crash, she has an out of body experience, quite literally. She sees the crash site and watches her family fight life and death. Eventually, she is also left to answer the same question, “should I stay or not?” hence the title, If I stay. The story left me questioning the existence of us as humans, it also made me realize that we impact people in more ways than we think, even the smallest interactions leave a big impact. The plot kept me hooked until the very end, some part of me kept hoping for it to be a dream of some sort. Overall the book was a refreshing change, it had elements of sadness, love, the importance of family, and a different perspective on life and death.

If I Stay describes the challenges that Mia Hall, a seventeen-year-old, must go through after her entire family, including her, gets into a car crash. Some survive and some don’t, but regardless, Mia sees everything outside of her body, where she is trapped and cannot communicate with the world. With some of her family gone, she contemplates whether or not she should stay in the world, hence the title. If Mia stays, it’ll be a world without people that she loves and if she doesn’t, everyone that loves her will have to mourn her loss.
In a book replete with drama, I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book which leads me onto my favorite thing about If I Stay which is how different it is from many books today. Another thing that I enjoyed was how beautifully written the book was because you could see many different people’s perspectives. This was such an amazing book and it is definitely worthy of reading it in one sitting. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone of any edge because it is such a heart-felt story.

I enjoyed it. Something new.

This book absolutely broke my heart as a I read it. A drive with her family ends with Mia in a coma. The book shows her aware of everything that's going on around her, including deaths of family members that were in the car with her. Flashbacks of memories show happier times, as she has to decide if she wants to stay alive and follow her musical dreams, or join family members who passed away in the crash.

If I stay Is an exquisitely written, touching book with a complex and intricate storyline that will leave you reeling. I will be vague in my description of the novel for fear of spoiling any aspect of the book ( which you really must read yourself!) If I stay is a story of love, perseverance, and music. It is about the strength a person can possess, and the impact a single day can have on the rest of your life. It is about letting go and holding on. It is about the continuous change we all experience, and owning up to the promises we have made. It is a stunning book and it demands the full attention of the reader in its scope. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who likes to read. Rating: 5/5 stars

If I Stay is a teen romance novel by Gayle Forman. The story is about a seventeen-year-old girl named Mia who dreams of studying at Julliard. She has a choice to make, follow her love of music and achieve all her cellist dreams, or stay with her family and the love of her life. However, Mia’s life is turned upside down one day when she goes for a drive with her family. But the question still remains for Mia, “Should I stay or should I go?” If I Stay is a good book to read if you like romance novels or if you are into books that give you a good cry. I would recommend this novel to people aged twelve and up because the story continuously goes back and forth between the present and the past, making the novel harder to understand. Just when there is nothing left to hope for, the novel gives a sense of hope and joy to the readers. If I stay is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. If I had to rate this novel, I would rate it five out of five stars.

While I was reading If I Stay, I was debating whether to give it four or five stars. After reading the beautiful ending, I couldn't give it anything lower than five. Besides the wonderful ending, I really like the structure of the book. The book is not split into chapters but time intervals. Each interval includes a description of what is going on in the present (the aftermath of a severe car accident) and then is followed by the main character's memories. The present and the past tie together really nicely. Both are necessary for Mia to decide whether she should stay, and live, or leave forever.

This was an emotional book to read. It was different to read a book based on a coma patients thoughts. It was a book impossible to put down, read it in one day. I really liked it and look forward to the sequel Where she went. I will read it again some time later. Its that good. Hope everyone enjoys this book and author. I plan to read more of her books.

Finished reading this book a few days ago. The book had more details being told than the movie. It's about a girl who loves playing the cello, got into an accident with her family, which doesn't tell how they crashed. She ends up in a hospital and in coma. I am not going to spoil a lot. I feel like this is giving us a reason to stay focus and check your surroundings because you may not ever know what's coming. This book is also filled with love, shocking, sad, and heartbreaking action, that will make you want to read. This can relate to us, when we lose someone or people that we love and how we are going to live on with them.

In this book the main character Mia gets in a car accident causing her to go into a comma where she needs to decide whether she should stay or leave

Jul 20, 2015

Mia has so much in life: a loving family, friends, a boyfriend, musical talent for the cello that will take her to Julliard...but so much of it is taken away in an instant. Mia and her family get into a car accident that kills everyone in her family and leaves her in a coma. But a part of her is still awake, still has to chose whether she wants to wake up, whether she wants to stay, whether this world is a place she still wants to live in.

This book is all about Mia. Getting into a terrible car crash losing all hope and her close family. she's trying to choose if she should stay since she believes she has absolutely, positively nothing to live for. While in a coma can friends and family try to convince her to stay or will she go and continue living with her parents up there. I cannot say anything more. If you must find out I personally would suggest that you read it your self

I read this book because its going to be a movie. To my surprise it was a drag out process for me. I'm not sure if its because I'm an adult reading a teen book but she just took way.... To long to figure out her outcome. Sometimes I just wanted to scream at the book lol.
