As of the IPCC report "Climate Change 2013: The Physical Science Basis", the climate change / global warming deniers have zero credibility.
This book changed my life. I thought I had a fairly good handle on the state of our planet and climate change, but after reading this book, I realize now that I didn't have the faintest clue. This book is so thoroughly researched and the references from peer-reviewed science are so numerous and well documented that it is obvious that Mr. Monbiot really did his homework. For anyone who thinks that "An Inconvenient Truth" was impactful, this book provides so much more. More evidence, and more importantly, actual solutions to the grave problem we have created for future generations (something the movie is sorely lacking). Monbiot actually wrote a special forward, just for Canadians, because on a per capita basis, we are the worst greenhouse gas emitters (along with the US and Australia) in the world, and Monbiot believes that this does not jive with the image in which we try so hard to project about ourselves. Should be required reading for anybody before voting, consuming or jetting off to Mexico for a winter vacation.
This oh-so-important topic of global warming has surely never before been so thoroughly researched and comprehensively investigated as you will find in this book - because what the author writes about are actual, non-political, non-bandaid real-life solutions. And sometimes, like here, the truth hurts. But the numbers and the arguments are compelling. When will we learn?
