Notices
Add NoticesViolence: Two old Greek grandfathers get into a fist-fight in one part of the book. Some blood is shed but only a little.
Coarse Language: Some words that carry a heafty meaning. Funny situations and totally appropriate for the problems facing the girls, but there are a few choice words.
Sexual Content: The book never goes into detail - but does give the implication of sex. And then they talk about how certain boys make out better than others. Not throughout the whole book just maybe one page in the middle.
Sexual Content: In the whole book series, there are parts when they.. you know... touch and do it...

Add a CommentA beautiful coming of age story. It kind of reminded me of my pals and long ago summers.
I tried reading this before but since I love the movie so much, the book didn't interest me at all. It's so different from the movie and honestly that bothered me. I tried to separate the two but it was extremely difficult. In short, I really don't like Ms. Brachere's writing style. I decided not to bother with the other three novels. I know that had I read the books first I probably would have hated the movie. Since books are sometimes better than the movies, in this case it was the complete opposite for me.
I love this series with all my heart, and I'll never back down. The characters, the relationships, the plot, everything. My absolute favorites from my tween/teen years!
The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants by Ann Brashares is a fun and exciting story about four best friends who won’t get to spend the summer together, so they decide to keep in touch by sharing a pair of blue jeans that fits them all perfectly, and then writing to each other about special events that took place with the pants. I think this book is important because it focuses on friendships and growing up but doesn’t have any unnecessary drama or petty fights between the main characters. This book has many positive messages, and I enjoyed it because it is a story that makes you feel good, while also writing about four girls with all different situations and personalities. This makes the book relatable for young people and enjoyable for anyone. I would recommend this book for anyone 13 or older and I would give it a rating of 8.5/10 stars. @bookaholic of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is the first book in a series about four friends who discover a pair of jeans that act as a magical bond between them on their first summer apart. Bridget is a star soccer player who falls hard for a soccer coach at summer camp. Carmen is a Mexican American teen who is excited to spend time with her divorced father only to realize that he has a whole new life with a “model white upper-middle class family.” Lena is a gorgeous girl who visits her grandparents in Greece and gets caught up in drama with a handsome boy she meets. Tibby is an eccentric teen who remains in her hometown, working at a local grocery store and interacting with a unique little girl with a dark secret. This book follows the story of these four very different girls with only one link between them - the magical pants that can hopefully save the day. I recommend this book to anyone because it is a light, fun read. On a scale from 1 to 5, I rate this book a 5 because it was very entertaining and I loved the whole series very much. This book was my childhood! Such a beautiful and cute book:) amazing romance and friendships, I would reread these every summer!
Despite the silly-sounding title, this is an amazing story of friendship, romance and summer adventure. The writing is easy-going and nostalgic. I think a lot of teenage girls and young women will relate to the characters, as they each have their own unique strengths and weaknesses. The movie that is based on this book is also amazing.
it so good and I loved it
While this series presents a positive model of female friendships, it comes off as somewhat contrived and one-dimensional. Despite this, many girls will likely enjoy the multiple storylines and the magical element of the jeans.
such a classic!
